This is a new kind of post for me and I hope to have more of them coming your way...
I was fortunate to recently play the Tetherow Golf Course in Bend, Oregon. The course instantly became one of my all-time favorites. I'm a sucker for links golf firm, fast, undulating greens, and endless creativity all around the course.
Tetherow is known for its stunning natural beauty, world class facilities, and their greens!
Designed by David McLay Kidd, the same guy who designed the original Bandon Dunes course in 1999, Tetherow feels less like a traditional golf course and more like it feel out of the heavens on a pristine piece of land surrounded by natural grasses and stunning views of the cascades.
For me, the endless variety, creativity, and challenge the course offers is right up my alley. I can't remember the last time I had so much fun on a course.
I went into the round knowing about the infamous "rollercoaster greens" and loved every minute of it. I love the idea of "hit it here to make it go there" not just with putting but all shots.
It's not just a pound driver, hit a mid iron in the green kind of course. I had Drivers that went 250 yards and hybrids that went 300 yards. I thank my caddie Colton for doing a great job helping me dream up shots that fully utilized the contours of the course.
It's the kind of course where a great shot may be just enough off line that you end up rolling off the green but is also the kind of course where a wayward shot may catch a slope back to the middle of the fairway. It's challenging yet fair.
Tetherow has instantly made it onto my list of favorite courses and I can't wait to get back!
